Privacy Policy

This page is maintained by the Writepaper team to describe the data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used. It is written in plain language and applies to everyone who uses writepaper.app.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name, email address, and authentication identifier, provided when you sign in through Clerk.
- Paper content — the topics, notes, and generated drafts you create in Writepaper, including saved section versions.
- Credit and transaction data — your current credit balance, credit ledger entries, and payment records associated with top-ups via Razorpay.
- Basic usage data — timestamps of generation attempts and errors, used to keep the service reliable.
How we use your information
- To generate, save, and let you resume or roll back paper drafts.
- To meter and bill credits, and to reconcile Razorpay payments.
- To detect abuse and prevent fraudulent usage of the service.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of vendors to operate Writepaper. Each vendor receives only the data required to perform its role:
- Clerk — user authentication and session management.
- Supabase — database and storage of your profile, papers, and credit ledger.
- OpenRouter — routes generation requests to the underlying large language model. Your paper topic and drafting prompts are sent to the model provider to produce the draft.
- Razorpay — processes credit-pack payments. Card and UPI details are handled entirely by Razorpay; we do not see or store them.
- Lovable — hosts the application.
Data retention
Your papers, versions, and credit ledger are retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual papers from the dashboard at any time. To delete your entire account and its data, email us at support@writepaper.app and we will action the request within a reasonable time.
Security
Access to your data is scoped to your authenticated account using row-level security. Payments run through Razorpay's PCI-DSS-compliant infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password on your identity provider and report any concerns to us.
Your rights
You can request a copy of the data we hold about you, or request its deletion, by emailing support@writepaper.app. Where applicable law (for example, the DPDP Act in India or the GDPR in the EU) grants additional rights, those rights apply.
Children
Writepaper is not intended for use by anyone under 13. Do not create an account if you are under this age.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "last updated" date.
