Refund Policy
Last updated: July 2, 2026
Writepaper sells paper entitlements (Standard or Premium) that each grant one IEEE draft. This page explains when a paper or money is refunded. For anything not covered here, contact support@writepaper.app.
1. Automatic in-app refunds (no action needed)
A paper entitlement is automatically returned to your account in the following situations:
- Generation failure. If any section of your paper (Methodology, Results, Discussion, Introduction, Related Work, Abstract, References) fails to generate correctly after our internal validator retries it, the paper is refunded automatically — the specific tier's counter (Standard or Premium) is restored to your account.
- Payment reconciliation errors. If Razorpay reports a successful payment but the paper is not added to your account within a few minutes, the missing paper is reconciled to your account automatically.
2. Money-back refunds on unused purchases
You can request a full monetary refund on a purchase if all of the following are true:
- The request is made within 7 days of the purchase.
- The purchased paper has not been used — your available count for that tier (Standard or Premium) is still at least as high as the number of papers from that purchase.
- The purchase was made in good faith (not fraudulently, and not part of repeated refund cycling).
Approved money-back refunds are issued back to the original Razorpay payment instrument (UPI, card, or netbanking) within 5–7 business days. We do not offer refunds on purchases where the paper has already been used.
3. What is not refundable
- Papers already generated successfully — including drafts you personally decide not to submit, edit, or use.
- Papers you delete from your dashboard. Deleting a completed paper only removes it from your account — it does not restore the entitlement that was used to generate it. If a generation genuinely failed, the automatic refund in section 1 has already returned that entitlement before you delete.
- Dissatisfaction with the writing style, tone, or subjective quality of a completed draft. Writepaper is a drafting tool; the author is expected to review and rewrite before submission (see our Terms).
- Rejection of your paper by a conference or journal, or an unfavourable verdict from any AI-detection tool.
- Paper entitlements granted as promotional bonuses or gifts, which have no cash value.
4. How to request a refund
- Email support@writepaper.app from the address on your account.
- Include your Razorpay
payment_id(visible on your Billing page) and a short reason for the request. - We review refund requests within 3 business days and confirm the outcome by email. Approved refunds settle within 5–7 business days after that.
5. Chargebacks
Please contact support before initiating a chargeback with your bank — almost every eligible case can be resolved faster through a direct refund. Chargebacks filed while a refund request is already being processed may delay the outcome and, if reversed, can lead to account suspension.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this refund policy as the product evolves. Purchases are governed by the policy in effect at the time of purchase.
