Refund Policy

Last updated: July 2, 2026

Writepaper sells credits that are consumed to draft IEEE conference papers. This page explains exactly when credits or money are refunded. For anything not covered here, contact support@writepaper.app.

1. Automatic in-app refunds (no action needed)

Credits are automatically returned to your balance — with a matching entry in your credit ledger — in the following situations:

  • Generation failure. If any section of your paper (Methodology, Results, Discussion, Introduction, Related Work, Abstract, References) fails to generate correctly after our internal validator retries it, the full 50 credits for that paper are refunded automatically.
  • Payment reconciliation errors. If Razorpay reports a successful payment but the credits are not added within a few minutes, the missing credits are reconciled to your account automatically.

2. Money-back refunds on unused credit packs

You can request a full monetary refund on a credit pack if all of the following are true:

  • The request is made within 7 days of the purchase.
  • No credits from that pack have been spent — meaning your balance is still greater than or equal to the number of credits from the pack you want refunded.
  • The purchase was made in good faith (not fraudulently, and not part of repeated refund cycling).

Approved money-back refunds are issued back to the original Razorpay payment instrument (UPI, card, or netbanking) within 5–7 business days. We do not offer partial refunds on packs where any credits have already been consumed.

3. What is not refundable

  • Credits already spent to generate a paper that completed successfully — including drafts you personally decide not to submit, edit, or use.
  • Papers you delete from your dashboard. Deleting a paper only removes it from your account — it does not return the credits that were spent to generate it, regardless of the paper's status. If a generation genuinely failed, the automatic refund in section 1 has already returned those credits before you delete.
  • Dissatisfaction with the writing style, tone, or subjective quality of a completed draft. Writepaper is a drafting tool; the author is expected to review and rewrite before submission (see our Terms).
  • Rejection of your paper by a conference or journal, or an unfavourable verdict from any AI-detection tool.
  • Credits granted as promotional bonuses or gifts, which have no cash value.

4. How to request a refund

  1. Email support@writepaper.app from the address on your account.
  2. Include your Razorpay payment_id (visible on your Billing page) and a short reason for the request.
  3. We review refund requests within 3 business days and confirm the outcome by email. Approved refunds settle within 5–7 business days after that.

5. Chargebacks

Please contact support before initiating a chargeback with your bank — almost every eligible case can be resolved faster through a direct refund. Chargebacks filed while a refund request is already being processed may delay the outcome and, if reversed, can lead to account suspension.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this refund policy as the product evolves. Purchases are governed by the policy in effect at the time of purchase.
